I’m so glad you’ve stopped by!
Welcome to Michelle’s Garden Grows. I’m Michelle and I LOVE gardening!
My biggest goal is to help everyone find resources and inspiration that help them remember or discover for the first time how FUN and REWARDING gardening can be.
My first career was a Registered Nurse caring for people, but there’s nothing I love more now than caring for plants in my home kitchen garden.
A drab high maintenance garden? I’ve got no time for that and I’m guessing you don’t either. I’m only interested in efficient gardens that inspire joy and creativity, where you can escape, connect with nature, and enjoy the beauty all around you.
Here on the blog and on social media I share reviews of my favorite garden products, books and plants. I make suggestions of how to incorporate gardening into your family life. I also share tips, tricks, and technique for organic home gardening and create lists of the very best books and educational resources on gardening and nature (need a beginner gardening book I’ve got you covered!)
A Gift for You
If you’re looking for ideas of how to help your garden journey, my email newsletter is filled with practical tips and ideas you can start using right away – I think you’ll LOVE it.
I truly hope you’ll sign up so I can get to know you and help you discover simple techniques and products to enhance your gardening and keep all those garden pests at bay without using pesticides.
Aside from gardening, I’m obsessed with Watermelon Sorbet in the summer and Homemade Soup in the winter and feel like this 2-ingredient low calorie dessert and Homemade Chicken Soup is something that you’ll love too!
My Story
I’ve dreamed of a garden since I was as child, but life didn’t provide the time for many years. I have a Register Nurse (BSN) degree and worked many years as an RN prior to staying home to raise my children, care for an elderly parent and assist my husband in establishing a community of faith where I volunteered hours of admin, developing policies, coordinating teams, and teaching children and women.
After all of this, life finally gave way for gardening! I believe my history in caregiving and pioneering new projects has strengthened my ability to care for a garden and encourage other gardeners. My one regret is that I didn’t start gardening when my children were younger so they could learn along with me.
My husband Karl is my best garden helper often making Michelle’s Garden Grows projects a reality! He leads a community of faith and I still serve alongside him coordinating women’s events and Bible studies. We have a son Jacob and a daughter Bethany both in college.
In 2020 I started Michelle’s Garden Grows on social media as a journal of my garden journey and started encouraging others with what I was learning. It’s been So AMAZING to learn alongside more experienced gardeners and help new gardeners become confident lovers of gardening.

Gardening Philosophy & Values
Worship & Love for the Creator
I believe gardening is a stewardship and a reward rooted in the idea that God placed us in a beautiful garden from the beginning!
I believe the creator of the world is the God of the Bible and everything comes from him.
He gave humans the job of stewarding the earth; therefore, I embrace sustainable and eco-friendly gardening practices and give Him all the glory while appreciating the beautiful earth he gave us to steward.
Respect for Nature
Recognizing the interconnectedness of plants, animals, minerals and the environment.
Patience and Perserverence
Gardening is a process that requires time and effort. Be patient with the growth cycles of plants and perservere through challenges.
Continuous Learning
Cultivating a mindset of continual learning. Staying curious about different plant species, gardening techniques and ecological principles.
Biodiversity Matters
Appreciate the importance of biodiversity in fostering a healthy and resilient garden. I aim to incorporate a varieity of plants to support local ecosystems.
Stewardship
I acknowlege the God-given role as a steward of the land. I take responsibility for the impact that my gardening practices may have on the environment, and this is why I garden organically.
Observation Skills
Develop keen observations skills to understand the needs of plants. Regularly monitor the garden to identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement.
Unique Approach
Recognize each garden is unique, influenced by factors such as climate, soil and sunlight. Being adaptable in approach to addressing the specific conditions of the garden.
Joy in the Process
Find joy in the act of gardening itself, not just the end results. Enjoy the therapeutic and fulfilling aspects of nurturing plans and creating a vibrant, outdoor space.
Community Connection
And finally, embrace the natural cycles of growth, decay and renewal in the garden. Appreciate the beauty of seasonal changes and the opportunity they bring for fresh beginnings!
Foster a sense of community through gardening. Share knowledge with others and collaborate with other gardeners.
Cycles of Renewal
